Gesuto means "guest" in Japanese, is a French-Japanese fine dining restaurant with selection of fine wines located in TTDI, right beside Bref by Darren Chin. Food innovations are based of Adaptive Cuisine method, a cuisine that takes inspiration from all around the world to elevate every dish made to a whole new level.
Modern environment like the typical french setup, comfortable dim light and it has wide space for intimate dining. The only thing that I dislike was the music - loud, almost impossible to hear what your partner trying to convey.

After settle down at the assigned table, don't startle if you can't see the A la carte menu. The restaurant's priority is to push the sales of Degustation Menu but you can also request for a la carte menu if needed.

Something to begin with is the complimentary by the house - Edamame coated with black truffle seasoning. Hump those edamame in your mouth as long as you want so that the black truffle won't go to waste!

Kick-off dinner starts with Ceviche (RM 26.00), comes with slices of fresh salmon, orange emulsion, lime, leche de tigre, nori tempura, pickled shallot and house smoked ikura. For this, I personally think that the placement of the food plating is crucial. The condiment were buried deep down, hence, you will have to manually dip the salmon to the condiment to enjoy the flavor combination.

If you are looking for light & refreshing pasta as your appetizer, then you should try this Kombu Capellini (RM 55.00). A plate of capellini, kombu, prawn, truffle oil, caviar and aioli. Thin, light and refreshing from the aioli, what more when there's kombu, truffle oil, prawn and caviar that gives you a taste of luxury.

Gesuto's best selling pasta dish is the Truffle Pappardelle (RM 45.00). Pappardelle generously mixed with truffle paste and topped with Japanese egg yolk, Parmigiano-Reggiano and nori. It taste brilliantly, creamy, earthy from the truffle paste but most importantly, very delicious.

However, the Prawn Spagettini (RM 58.00) was down and out for me. A plate of spagettini with grilled prawn, bisque 2-ways, prawn oil, caviar, lemon oil and chives. The aroma of the bisque was inviting but the taste was otherwise bland, little to none seasoning. Hopefully the chef can improvise the dish.

Down to dessert, one of the smoothest Molten Chocolate (RM 15.00) I ever had. The molten chocolate lava baked perfectly that it is still runny in the middle served with butter crunch soil topped with french vanilla bean ice cream. Reasonable price too!

My personal summary: Good environment to dine-in, servers are friendly and attentive. Personal favorite and recommendations will be the Kombu Capellini and Truffle Papperdelle, but avoid Prawn Spagettini if possible. The music genre doesn't match well with the dining environment and it was loud. Price was decent at this range, but subjective to individual's price sensitivity.

It is hard to find quality bistro these days. BUT thankfully Chef Darren Chin decided to open his little retreat named - Bref by Darren Chin, an alternative way to enjoy his work of art in an affordable manner. Bref by Darren Chin is a contemporary Parisian Bistro that public can enjoy dining delicious meal, at a moderate priced meal.

Went there as a couple, that have my seat placed at the kitchen counter. At the kitchen counter, you will be able to experience open-kitchen concept, witnessing how the young Chef de Cuisine runs the show. The waiter will brief you on the menu and give you some recommendation!, but please be aware that the menu is seasonal and will change periodically.

2016 BK Wines “One Ball” Chardonnay, Adelaide Hills, Australia (RM 42.00, by the glass)
Knowing what I will feast later on, this glass of white wine was the right decision I ever made. Vibrant and full of brightness, able to cut through extremely high fat content and cleanse my palate. Comes with a fruity sensation such as blueberry and orange, then leaving behind pepper, cloves and very obvious honey.

.
Food
Complimentary Antipasti - Crusty bread accompanied with Giant mammuth olives, piquillo peppers, pepperoncini & onion jam.
Loving the warm crusty bread. The mix giant mammuth olives, piquillo peppers pepperoncini and onion jam was outstanding.

[Antipasti] - Torchon of foie gras fait a la maison (RM 55.00)
Two pieces of round seasoned foie gras accompanied with Chiang Mai's wild flower honeycomb at the side. The fattiness of the foie gras blends well with the authentic honeycomb from Northern Thai, gives a creamy nutty sensation on the tongue. Sadly, not my type of dish. Anyway, good experience thou.
/pro-tip: looking for combo with this dish? order a glass of champagne of any kind OR sweet wine of any kind. For cleansing palate wise, you may ordered like what i did above or you may ask the server to recommend you a few wine with high acidity characteristics/

[Pasta]- DC's Signature (RM 75.00)
Prior to my experience in Bref, was wondering what's the hype with this dish that the netizen had been raving about? Surprisingly, this is the best dish I ever had in my life. A plate with cold somen, covered with aged ponzu, topped with  Hokkaido bafun uni and roasted celeriac. Great texture within the somen, the aged ponzu blends well with the noodle. What more when there's exquisite ingredients on top of the cold somen. Portion of the noodle was on-point. Very satisfying.

[Main]- Australian grass-fed rib eye steak au poivre (280-300gms) (RM 120.00)
An Australian grass-fed rib eye steak with roasted celeriac cream, buttered kale. To me, this dish is just "so-so", no Wow factor. Maybe an aged Wagyu can impress me. The size is just right for two pax, but if you are a bodybuilder, the portion is awesome for your gains.

[Pasta]- Spaghettini with fresh red prawns from Kuala Selangor (RM 58.00)
"The simplest meal is the hardest to cook" - Ah Xian (2018), during his interview with Chef Darren Chin, got me curious and wondered why would Ah Xian said so? It is true, a simple pasta dish like this may look so simple but when it comes to preparation, it is another story. Thus, this pasta is pack with great taste and aroma. Pasta texture was on al-dente, the tomato passata taste great with seafood broth mixed in. Simply delicious.

Dessert
 Chocolate (RM 35.00)
Have you tried tasting local cacao? It is as good as imported cacao. The 60% & 70% cacao was used in Chef Han's Chocolate Royale, planted and grown by the Semai hill-tribes in Sinderut, Pahang. Garnished with boozy macerated cherries, dark chocolate creme and chocolate crisps. Taste delicious, minimal sweetness and leaving behind pleasant creamy mouthfeel.

Seasonal fruit (RM 35.00)
A dessert for those with over-filled tummy, something light and refreshing, may opt for this.
This bowl of dessert filled with poached fresh peaches, dollop of  Duo of Mara de bois strawberry & Philly cheese ice-cream, topped with muesli crumble.

Verdict
If you are looking for good contemporary European meal with Asian twist, enjoying meals in a big group - this is the place to be. Good food, good wine.

A brief hiatus in cafe-hopping ever since I got my own v60 kit. Until recently, I found this cafe by fate via Facebook I guess? The name itself, Craft Origin, had already given me an unusual vibe, literally telling me that such cafe probably exists somewhere else out of Klang Valley... Little did I know, this cafe operates only a few months old ago in TTDI!
Also, what caught my attention the most was the coffee beans that they offered. That is why I'm down to it, feeling thirsty and 'needly' to try one of their bean: Panama Finca Hartmann roasted in China.
Friendly barista, Rachel, accustomed to my preference, slowly brewing it with ideal temperature (89 degree Celsius)  to ensure the extraction of the coffee is able to express towards the brighter notes.
Candid-shot of everyone and everything in the cafe

🠓Filter Coffee (Pour Over) @ RM 16🠓
Yes, above with me is the Panama Finca Hartmann that I mentioned earlier, brewed at the ideal temperature of 89 degree Celsius. Upon drinking it at hot temperature, this bean expressed intense aroma of winery and complexity of fruity and floral aromas - acidity and brightness yet to shine but overall it gives heavy bodied and tea-like finishing.
As the temperature cools down, the brightness and acidity starts to shine in my mouth and the aroma remained constant.
To conclude, I like the coffee, it is recommended to try for those love such characteristics or a fan of Panama coffee beans.

🠓Cappuccino @ RM 10🠓
House blend of 3 countries' coffee bean that pair well with any milk based coffee. Its pretty well balance and easy to drink, in general. No further comment.

Other than coffee and tea, Craft Origin also serves food and cakes (I did not try any of them), therefore, if you are available during your free time and no where to go, maybe you can give it a try.

For coffee connoisseurs, this would be the place for you to have your cup of coffee as the baristas are skilled and experienced. Another great coffee shop alternative around TTDI.

I've heard a lot regarding this cafe called Thursdvys @ Jalan Sulaiman, TTDI from friends
and also seen people posting tons of pictures of thursdvys over Instagram,
then I did few readings from other bloggers' review and decided to visit them on a fine evening.

Here, I'm at thursdvys started with the first snap shot at middle of the road before getting across to the cafe.
This is the front view of the thursdvys cafe, I believed the owner ventured the business with passion. The exterior of the cafe gives a hint of 3D design.
Moreover, they also did a little transformation to their entrance, a little tricky prism-like design.
Inside, thursdvys have all these shaped transparent-boxes nailed to the wall, where they take these props-decoration to another level!

One of instagramers' and picture fnatics' spot of taking pictures. If you seen #thursdvys on Instagram, then you will know what I meant.

Not to mention that, I love these outdoor seats with wood furnitures, customers able to enjoy coffees outdoor. I have seen people playing guitar over here. A very "self-treat at home" environment.

Look ! The interior design of this cafe! Cant see what I actually meant ? Scroll below.

Prism-like shaped interior design.

Self-service in terms of, be at the counter then Order at the Counter and the employee will serve right to your table. Common style of services within the indie-cafes nowadays.

Since I visit the cafe in the evening, so I did not order their lunch menu items and the dinner menus are an hour away but I have another plan for dinner, so... I only order cakes and coffees.

Bottom left is the Captain Murphy @ RM 16/slice. Sponge cake layered on with icing cream (small hint of  pistachio) taste so good !
Top right: Cappuccino RM 10/cup.
Bottom left: Cronut RM5/piece. Dough that fried into crisp then final touch up with glaze of caramel syrup & the texture is puff pastry kind of texture.
Top right: Latte RM 10 / cup.

As I was slowly sipping my cup of coffee, one of their barista, friendly approached to me and offered me to try on their current research, in which beans are suitable for the dripping method ^_^

Baristas are configuring the grammage of the beans.

I wish I was more knowledgeable about coffee and its game but.... AHAHAHA, will learn more about it soon.

Verdict: Overall, not bad for a place to chill or have a meal on. The shop design charms a lot, that can attract people into it - especially the photographers. Price of the cakes and several menu items might be a little too high on average basis, but it's okay for those who are not price-sensitive or perhaps several locals got used to it.
Maybe next re-visit, I wanna try out their lunch or dinner menu items !

Cheers~!

What should you do if you are after facing a tight-line schedule? Grab a stick of cigarette?
No. -"Cigarette(s) be like, "SHHHUUSSHH, you are leaving this world soon..." "

So, why not redeem yourself with a cup of coffee.

Anyway,

I went to try out coffees in Taman Tun Doctor Ismail (TTDI) - Artisan Roast Coffee,
which was placed near 1 Utama and is closer to the Penchala Link.
This cafe was placed in a strategic location whereby it is surrounded by variety of shop lots that are able to attract customers into the cafe.

Artisan's target market most likely ranging from Teens to Senior Executive, Locals to Foreigners.

Not to mention that, getting yourself a car park doesn't seems to be in your favor during day time (which is the peak hour(s) for every shops there), unless you are planning to drink coffee at night~

Artisan Roast Coffee -front view!

Remember I mentioned about getting yourself a PROPER car-park in peak hour(s) is flustering? Try double-park in front of the shop...

Below will be picture of WHAT's inside the Artisan Cafe.

With one step forward, first thing that caught everyone's sight is the pastries in the chiller.

Order HERE!

Don't Worry, Drink Coffee

The types of blend use to brew the beverages.

I love the coffee chart.

Various roasted beans display on the shelves for the customer to spot-on.
Artisan Roast Coffee did handbrew their coffee beans!
Red Espresso
Wowga
Bakasso
Gachami
Kangocho
Montecillo

They use Mirage Triplette at Artisan TTDI to extract the espresso. The machine operates with semi-automatic functions.

Apparently, the staff will serve right on your table right now !

The atmosphere inside the cafe is relaxing with huge art work on the wall, with small tables placed around the space.
However, I prefer the outside environment of the cafe whereby you can sit down, relax and enjoy your  coffee with the presence of natural light !

Red Latte - RM 10.00 ; I love it because it gives out the tea aroma although the beverage has been mix with steamed milk!

Cheesecake - RM 10.00 ; I love the cream cheese texturing, the chocolate layer and the cheese cake.

Spinach mushroom quiche - RM 7.90 ; how i wish they serve quiche lorraine !

Caffe Latte! RM10.00

This makes the threee of it ! From the left, Caffe Latte, Red Latte, and cheese cake.

Last but not least, the Americano RM 6.00 ; i could feel a glimpse of spicyness (taste) in the coffee. Or maybe not.
That's about it ! I did enjoy have coffee(s) there, especially the Red Latte, the aroma did stained in my taste bud for eternity and it was really recommended to chill with buddies over there!
The environment is crazy and the location is phenomenal when you can simply just leave the cafe for the nearest shopping mall which is OneUtama.

Oh by the way, Artisan Roast Coffee in TTDI is hiring ! If you are interested, do call them at your will.
