From Janda Baik to Bentong took about 25 - 30 minutes of drive. Then you will face this huge signboard, proudly erected the word BENTONG on the higher ground to tell you that you are in Bentong of Pahang now.

Speaking of Bentong, what does the locals usually aim for?
It's the Bentong morning market which is a MUST for all the locals of Bentong to go to, but unfortunately, I could not make it in time to visit the glorious market due to some personal reasons, that is why I headed to Janda Baik first.

Apart from Bentong's morning market, many locals and tourists will never fail to pay a visit to the best cold desserts in town that Bentong has to offered, Kow Po , as well as Bentong's best vista with marvelous natural attunement, Chamang Waterfall !

i) Kow Po
Address: Bentong Height, 28700 Bentong, Pahang
Hours: 10 morning to 7 evening (Daily)
Contact: 09-2221258

Kow Po has a long history of serving cold desserts to the community of Bentong. The cold desserts that are served to the community are Cendol, shaved-ice cream, Banana splitters and many more! What makes Kow Po a special cafe or desserts store to die for, was their homemade ice cream that has been passed down from generation to generation. If you are curious on exactly how long did their generation has been running, well I can say its more than 30 to 40 years of business!
That's what makes them renowned as the best ice cream parlor in Pahang today.

Judging by the price of Kow Po's each and every item, I can tell it's not cheap compare to my past experienced in Pangkor. Probably, because of their reputation perhaps? Not so sure about it till I dig the bowls !

No joke, this place is packed with people from all over the states of Malaysia.

Pandan Ice Cream.
Their most potential product is their Ice Cream! This is the Pandan-flavored ice cream that I had ! It was light in taste, the taste of pandan isn't obvious enough for me but pretty strong in terms of  ice molecule.

Kow Po Special
As a Malaysian, you can identify this bowl has its various of combinations. You can see the mixture of Cendol, shaved ice cream as well as a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. The ingredients such as cendol and red beans are fine to me, sadly it wasn't sweet enough to me, I supposed there's not enough brown sugar in it.
Health-conscious consumer will like it.

ii) Chamang Waterfall
Address: 28700 Bentong, Pahang, Malaysia

Bentong's best point of interest that you should not miss out is the Chamang Waterfall !
It would be a shame if you don't take a dip at the river of Chamang.
Chamang Waterfall is encircled with high-dense of greens, but fret not, obstacle-free if your dream is to get to the waterfall spot instantly without any hassle !

On a side note, visitors must pay before entering the premise.
Local (adult) RM 2 ; Foreigner (adult) RM 5
Local (kid) RM 1 ; Foreigner (kid) RM 2

Wrath of nature makes everything beautiful to look at, fresh air that flows into your lung, the sound of the waterfall downpour that calms down your soul, being a different person as well as being rejuvenate at the same time.

That is all ! This marks the end of my journey within Pahang! Pretty tranquil to be around at, the food is fresh and delicate as well as the vistas within the state are the bucketlist to die for!

Stay tune for more!

Bonjour,
Today's post will be about my recent jaunt in Pahang's most common places among the locals, which is Janda Baik & Bentong.

I'm sure there are netizens from Pahang read through my blog before, and here you go - a dedicated post for you.

Before you jump into the main contents, hereby, I would like to thank myself for being lucky to bump into an attractive vendor in Publika and extremely eager to buy a book called, Destination Malaysia, written by a professional photographer cum traveler of My Road Planner. This author did a fantastic job on discovering several unique hidden gems that scattered around in Malaysia as well as promoting these gems through his book-on-sale, which is very impressive to me. A good way to awaken the society about how valuable our hidden gems in Malaysia. So, it got me motivated, wanted for more in terms of traveling in domestic - to discover the local hidden gems before heading out International.

Janda Baik, Pahang

i) Janda Baik - Lebuhraya Karak.
Left home, and headed to the first place, Janda Baik, miles away from the Berjaya Bukit Tinggi and Genting Highlands. Consider Janda Baik the foothill of everything especially for outsiders that drive through Karak Highway.
Morning dew, where the street starts to get more lively.
Medium size community and area, here goes the local shop-lots that are facing the great hills and mountains, opening up for businesses.
Local making end-meets by selling their own products within their own vicinity.

I was hungry too as I left my house without having any breakfast.
Then, I simply drop-by at any one of the store for a good breakfast.

This store offers great Wanton Noodle and selections of ingredients such as wanton meat, meatballs or fish balls of your choice, which is optional.
I picked fish balls and meatballs instead because it was always my favorite. Alongside, I ordered a cup of Teh-C ( hot tea with evaporated milk ) as a finisher to my breakfast.

The sensation of having such breakfast in such environment, seriously, you can't get else where in the cities. Yes, some place of the cities have such theme but their originality soon override by modernization. The sense of tranquility, classic culinary - these sort of elements can only be obtain in such places, for instance: here.

Children playful and laughter reminds me of my past - the exact situation in the similar environment.

ii) Hutan Lipur Konifer, Bukit Tinggi Bentong
Address: Bukit Tinggi, 28750 Bentong, Pahang.
Hours: 7 morning to 6 evening, daily.

On my way to visit Tanarimba where Purple Cane Tea Restaurant lies, we saw this Conifer forest that is open for public, the gate was open unguarded. Nobody is there either. So, I guess it was nice to walk around when there's no other people around you.

The conifer grew in batches by batches, they are no in one big group, so it makes photography slightly in challenged. I took number of shots and finally found one that I really love it (above).
As I was busy taking pictures of these beautiful conifer, a pine cone drops from no where. It was dried, it seems like the life of the pine cone is going to be expire soon.

Not so sure what species of plant is this, looks beautiful indeed !

iii) Tanarimba & Purple Cane Tea Restaurant
Address: Jalan Tanarimba Pine, Kampung Janda Baik,28750 Bentong, Pahang.
Hours: 9 morning - 7 evening (Wed - Sun)

This place enables you to host an event, if you need to. The structure of the entire building uses high grade quality of wood, you can tell by touching the woods. Amazingly, the wood is still in great shape till today.
Disclaimer: For hosting event, please do contact the agent beforehand.

It also act as a gallery for visitors on certain period of time, however there's even more strict regulations if you proceed further.

Behind the Tanarimba Hall would be the Purple Cane Tea Restaurant. Purple Cane Tea Restaurant took over a business which was used to be a coffee house, due to the lack of profit and some several issues dragging them back, Purple Cane Tea Restaurant became the current existence to the past business. They mainly serve health-conscious food and drinks, which can be relate with the place that they are in right now- being encircled by greens.

Not planning to do much here, will just order one pot of tea to calm myself down.
Click the picture to enlarge, price of menu items - all you need to know.

I ordered one pot of Long Jing Green Tea (Finest) @ RM 13.
*You need to beware of this tip: RM 13 is only for one empty cup. If you want two cups for two pax, the price goes 13+13 = RM 26.
Well, fuck this - one tea cup @ RM 13 is enough (above) :)

iv) "Danau Daun Chalets" disguised as "Kopi n Kraf"
Address:
Lot 5347, Kg. Sum-Sum Hilir, Malaysia
Kampung Janda Baik
28750 Bentong
Pahang

A chalets that open up for public, of course, reservation is the main priority so that the Team can make it up for you. Enclose yourself deep inside of the Janda Baik's village, which surrounded by greens as well as pool.

Apart from being ordinary chalet, this chalet provides guests with more personal-up close with the nature, as well as providing guests with their very own coffee blend. On top of that, there are facilities of man-made pool which the team named it as Dipping pool and fish pond. These facilities are accessible, with terms and conditions applied.

Should you read more about them?  Visit their site @ http://www.danaudaunchalets.com/

v) Free and Easy, deep inside Janda Baik's Village.
Address: Nil. *Title says it all.*

As I mentioned earlier, I want more from my domestic jaunt to fill the missing piece inside my heart, this required oneself to travel aimlessly to get what you want. As you go deeper into the woods, you will see incredibly authentic force of nature surrounded around you. The state of tranquility is foremost important when it comes to jaunting. Other than that, will be the originality of the source, the lore and so on...

Here, I stumbled across this place from my car, so I decided to stop by and check it out.
How locals react to the enclose nature, it turns out to be pretty natural as if the nature is their relatives.

vi) Restaurant Wonderland Valley Bukit Tinggi

Most of you heard the word, "Rojak" in your life as a Malaysian right?
Rojak is a traditional fruit and vegetable salad dish commonly found in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
"Rojak" in Malay term is known as mixture.
There are many variations in serving Rojak, so Penang Rojak is one of my favorite variation!

I found one stall that produces remarkable Penang Rojak in Sri Petaling's restaurant.

Lovely eh? One plate of Penang Rojak costs RM 5.50 ! Worth the value!

To be honest, every variations of Rojak are more or less- containing similar ingredients, such as cucumber, guava, premature papaya slice, tau fu pok & anything that the person who is making has to offer!

I realized that the dressing used in this Penang Rojak is very sticky that brings out a proper strength of texture and taste as well. This dressing has moderate to none level of spiciness so its suitable for everyone's consumption.

Moreover, the best part of every Rojak dish is to have the prawn crackers! It is crispy and tasty at the same time.
You should dig up the crackers together with the mix fruits and dressing, then eat em'.

Deep into the dressing!

When the sun goes down and the Pigs go home, the BIG BAD WOLF comes out to play...
That night was interesting, so I'v decided to visit the wolf and hear what it has to say about the pigs.

Three Little Pigs & THE BIG BAD WOLF is located in the Bangsar Village 1 mall,
it can be access by two doorways:
a) Via Bangsar Village 1 grocery mart. (Nearby the poultry section)
b) Via Bangsar Village 1 's parking lot. (Outdoor)

Inside the grocery mart.

Inside the grocery mart, it looks like this.

Otherwise, from the outdoor which is...
Front view via Outdoor Parking of the BV1.

Did not expect that many willing to hear what the wolf has to say about the pigs.
Waiting and waiting and waiting.

The restaurant provides a small space for the guests to settle down temporary while waiting to be seated by the restaurant manager.
Loving the interior, decorated with wallpapers and some props to keep us cool down.

Waiting area of the restaurant.

Right beside the waiting area, is the wine chamber. Wide range of wines available for sale.
Not to mention that, they promote their wine at a attractive rate everyday to attract the consumers.
*Rates are set according to the wine variety.

Wine Chamber.

Desserts!

The restaurant's bar!

The restaurant's menu.
 That night, I ordered:
-1 salad = ( Tonkatsu Salad)
-2 pasta(s)  = ( Alien Invasion) (Crispy Soft Shell Crab)
-1 burger[Main] = (Piggy Mighty Burger)
-1 rice[Asian] = (Pig Rolling In The Mud)
-1 dessert = (Divine Chocolate Sundae)

Alien Invasion (Creamy sauce floods around the spaghetti along with the slices of pork sausages and mushroom)

Piggy Mighty Burger ( Burger itself consists of sunny side up, pork patty, lettuce, cheese, mayo. Serve along side with fries and marinated salad)

Pig Rolling In The Mud ( Rice which served with pork slices and vege(s) - cover up with Japanese Curry)

Crispy Soft Shell Crab ( Similar to Creamy Carbonara, but this one is special with the crispy soft shell crab)

Tonkatsu Salad (Lettuce, Corns, Pork Slice, Cherry Tomatoes, Onions - dressed up with Teriyaki sauce + sesame oil )

Divine Chocolate Sundae (Vanilla ice cream glazed with chocolate and caramel syrup and topped with chopped peanuts)
I'm amazed that the restaurant was able to deliver food on my table way below than the expected waiting time despite the high turnover during peak hours.

The food in the restaurant are delicious, enjoyable and comes in great portion which satisfy the stomach capacity.
However, I personally think that the Divine Chocolate Sundae is a shame.
Wish that the restaurant can replace this menu item with Chocolate Molten Cake - that can be purchase in Chilli's restaurant - having Divine Chocolate Sundae in the restaurant might have the tendency of getting no sales at all in the dessert point of view, unless they increase the portion of it.

Moreover, if you want to have a drink session with friends or family, the restaurant also provides outdoor space for you to enjoy.

Another matters that hits silently was this awesome reserved seats for special guests.
Private space dining, zoning you out from others.

The price to dine here is reasonable and worth every penny you spend on it.
