2016 and still counting...
It is time for everyone's new chapter of life as soon as new year hits in, #TeamTheOwlsCafe on the side, pop-out with their new launch, called the New Chapter. New Chapter by The Owls Cafe was born in Calvary Convention Centre (a church centre) nearby Bukit Jalil Golf & Country Resort.

This time, the space within the vicinity has doubled compared to their first outlet (The Owls Cafe @ Jalan Jalil Jaya 6) and comprehend with pretty wooden-white furnitures, patterned tiles and clean white walls.
If you are a returning customer of The Owls Cafe, I'm sure you know the struggle just to get a seat in their cafe due to their lucrative business that produces high turnovers. However as mentioned above on their new expansion in New Chapter, it is easily accessible this time without any queue despite having huge crowd !
(Existance of queue(s) still can be vary on different days/season - just be there early and you will be fine)

"Ms. Loo at her steampunk"

Started out with this Infused Water to refresh myself after a long distance of driving. Infused Water is mixed with seasonal fruits. The fruits content inside the Infused Water can be vary from time to time, so there are chances that you might not get exactly the same as mine.

One thing that can't be miss out especially when you are in New Chapter/The Owls Cafe, which is their coffee. Why? It is because the barista behind the steampunk were experienced & passionate about coffee that will change your mind :P Each shots pulled were pleasant, smooth and clean.
So I ordered myself a cup of cappuccino with a single shot to get caffeinated.

Meanwhile, breakfast & brunch menu in New Chapter seems limited compared to their other half - The Owls Cafe. Pretty sure it is because New Chapter just came out not long ago, so my rough guess is that they are in the midst of implementing something new and interesting. Till then, go click Like at their Facebook page to follow-up on their cafe updates.*

Opt for something healthy and light-meal? Go for the English style muffin with egg mayonnaise & semi sun-dried tomatoes with mix green salad and buttered parsley potatoes on side. This plate is good enough for those who want to save space for the waffles later.

The name of the menu item says it all. Pastry and sea catch? Well that literally translated, a plate that has a flavored Crispy Croissant stuffed with fresh tuna chunk with creamy mayonnaise served with salads & fries. Great!

I was told that Midori released not long ago, so I decided to give this a try. It is a matcha based waffle filled with generous amount of Mandarin oranges with sprinkle of pistachio, homemade black sesame & coconut ice cream together with red bean cream. It is weird to have combination of waffles with ice cream alongside with the Mandarin oranges but luckily it suits my taste bud well. The ice cream is superb authentic especially the coconut flavour. However, if there is a chance to rewind, I would go back to Rebecca :3

"Food.Dessert.Coffee creates happy people"

Here's another alternative to the famous 'The Owl's Cafe' in Bukit Jalil if they are fully occupied and you have no patient to queue for seats then welcome to Fishee Coffee. Fishee Coffee located 3 kilometers away from the famous Bukit Jalil Stadium and it is 10-minute away from The Owl's Cafe.

Fishee Coffee serves specialty coffee as well as food for breakfast & lunch. Not to mention that the essentials to go along after having your food and coffee, would be cakes and waffles.
Ambient wise, I would say it is pretty cosy and comfortable. The lighting not too bright nor dim but it is sufficient enough to see everything inside the cafe. The seating are well arranged in such a way that it does not look small or packed even with lots of oldies props and crowd around. A place good for 4 pax or couple :)


Appeared cute and adorable at first sight. The cheese cake was glazed with Belgium Chocolate and decorated in such a way to look like a tiny-baby-fish. Then, it was added with whipped cream topped with a fruitful of strawberry to look like a "Santa-hat". The dessert overall does not meet my expectation mainly because it was dry as a whole, thus, it is slightly difficult to chew and it affects every component of this dish as a whole in terms of texture, aroma and taste.

Red latte? Does the latte appears to be red? Something special about it? No .. No.. The term "Red" simply means tea espresso, extracted from tea leaves instead of using coffee beans as an espresso. For those that does not really like coffee can try this, because it contains low caffeine compared to the ordinary cafe latte and it taste similar like "Teh Tarik". Commonly found in Artisan Roast Cafe and Three Little Birds.

If you have heard about Omakase + Appreciate, founded by Shawn Chong and Karl Too , then I'm sure that you've heard about Olfactory Bulb !
Mind you, Olfactory Bulb stands out to be a unique lounge-cafe among their competitors within the area, in terms of their opening hours. Their daily operation begins from evening until midnight.




As you ascend, you will find yourself in a pitch-black path-way guided with decorated wall lamps so you will not fall into the darkness.
I'm amazed that they can actually think of a simple design to complete this area. For bonus, I think its nice to have some murals at the pitch-black wall, which makes every guests' photography a memorable one.


Inside the lounge-cafe, you will still experience slight darkness. Fortunately, there are light bulbs dangling at the bar cum counter section, which give out medium radius of luminosity. This setting gives out some sort of chill yet a nightlife experience to all guests, whereby they can enjoy the night with what Olfactory Bulb has to offer.
Interior wise, brick of walls painted in black, accompanied with several spotlight on-the-shine, furniture featuring black stainless steel chairs, elegantly furnished wooden tables & chairs and several cosy yet majestic sofa chair. The interior used in Olfactory Bulb, is a perfect synergy prior to the business that they are doing.
In the middle of the lounge-cafe, there will be a unique candle chandelier with enzyme-shape above a few cylinder vase centerpieces.

Below are the items that I have ordered and I must say, the items here are very exquisite...

1- Yam Som Oh (RM 26.00), under Ofb Waffle Mess.
One of the best waffle creations in town! The BEST ONE, like SERIOUSLY because I'm a big fan of Thai cuisine and this bowl of waffle taste like one. A waffle with Kapiti lemongrass & ginger, lemon cream, lime syrup, sweetened dried cuttlefish, pomelo, crushed tom yam flavored peanuts and kaffir lime leaf.

2- Brownie Ala Mode (RM 16.00) under Ofb Sweets.
If you are looking for a balance of warm and cold element in one plate, this is the one that you are looking for. A warm brownie served with a dollop of Kapiti Black Doris Plum & Creme Fraiche ice cream. Good stuff.

"Memory Tags"

Few days after Merchant's Lane Cafe grand opening, finally managed to create some free time for myself to pay them a visit :)
Honestly, it took me minutes to spot the entrance to the cafe due to the cafe aren't attractive-friendly, (cannot be spot by driving or from a distance).
So, you have to look up for this* stationery store, just beside ATC college. As you walk closer to the store, you are able to see a stairway to Merchant's Lane Cafe.

*Update- Merchant's Lane now built turquoise/teal wooden door at the entrance, look for it. It is easier to locate them now.
