The all-you-can get premium ingredients is from The Rare Food Company in Empire Residence. The Rare Food Company serves premium ingredients from different regions, offering engaging food produce and premium selections of alcoholic beverages in town.
A team of wild fire chefs, meticulously produce the finest plate before expediting, flare and flare non-stop. You will be able to see the finest cut of meat being slice, fresh octopus being plate on. Sound and aroma of the sizzling pan from the kitchen really arose the appetite.
If you notice, ratio of the seats are mostly alfresco rather than indoor. Glad that it wasn't that hot or humid choosing seats at the alfresco area because there's sufficient high-powered wall fans around the structure coupled with natural outdoor wind. The alfresco seats overlooking the beautiful residential view of Damansara Perdana.

Started with the appetizer - Pan-seared Iberico Gyozas (RM 28.00). Not the usual typical minced meat fillings inside the skin. They used the premium Iberico that was used for the filling then pan-seared gracefully at the right temperature to retain the succulent inside. The gyozas served with jungle garlic sauce for dipping. For me the gyozas has no difference if I were to compared them against any other gyozas from the Japanese restaurants. Unsure why this dish is in high demand?

Second appetiser for that night - Japanese Oyster Omelette (RM 29.00). A plate of omelette size of a hand palm, moist texture that was cooked right. Topped with fresh Japanese Oysters then highlight with the organic Yuzu and chilli. This dish you will enjoy the acidity and heat from the yuzu and chili, fresh ocean from the oysters.

The third dish that comes in with surprise - Pulpo (RM 78.00). The Spanish Octopus chargrilled to perfection (not rubbery but tender), beautifully charred drizzled gracefully with olive oil & paprika and served with smoked sauce to give a little heat to it. Highly reckon on this! Even the size of it is quite big.

Want some carbs? This is the Wagyu Bacon Don, served with pickled Kyuri & Shitake with Kombu Butter (RM 38.00). It is a small sized rice bowl that they make sure you don't outrun your calories calculator. Portion is just right, kombu smells great, together with the wagyu bacon slices.

The star and limited edition dish is the Uni Scallop Truffle Capellini. No doubt that the uni, scallops and roe are very fresh and delicate to enjoy with the capellini, however, the flavour of the broth seems to be lacking on my taste bud. Until they improvise the flavour, I will still recommend Darren Chin's signature somen.

Personal Summary:
-Reservation is required.
-A place to impress your date with alfresco dining overlooking the beautiful view within Damansara Perdana.
-Be mindful of the portion as well as the price.
-Highly recommended dish: Pulpo
-Consider twice on: Pan-seared Iberico Gyozas & Uni Scallop Truffle Pasta

Recently just discovered another new coffee space (spacegrey coffee) alcove within Floralreef in SS 2. Considering spacegrey coffee as a hidden gem coffee place because the initial business started from word-of-mouth concept and has no signboard as indicator.

As you walk into the shop, it feels like you are stepping into another realm. Quiet, seriously spacegrey interior greeted with natural light - everything just feels breath-taking. Reminds me of my days exploring cafes around Chiang Mai city.

Currently, solely one-man-show owner cum barista managing the business from coffee brewing to light food. According to owner, he has plans to increase the seating capacity as well as extending his kitchen for more output on food aspect. Plans aside, his ultimate goal is to put a smile on customers' face, ensure customers enjoy the overall services and vibes.

Oat Milk Latte (RM 10.00)

Personal Summary: A new quiet coffee space in SS 2, good spot for dating, self-reflection or work. Mostly on beverages. Check with owner for any light food or pastries. Space is tiny, about 10-15m sq.

Superfine.kl is inside the Seventeen Mall at Section 17 Petaling Jaya, easy reach for the surrounding neighbours to grab a quick cuppa joe or even a healthy brunch. Also consider one of the top eatery among the rest within the area itself - the waiting list at the entrance speaks for itself!

Broad dining space and the natural bright light from the floor-to-ceiling window makes the interior feels inviting and comfortable as a place to enjoy food and conversation over coffee. Easy to oversee how barista brew the coffee or to see what's available on the cake station.

Lamb Tacos al Pastor (RM 21.80) - Slow roasted New Zealand lamb shoulder, topped with harissa mayo, grilled pineapple, pickled onions, salsa roja and fresh coriander wrapped tortilla. Perfect choice especially for ladies that trying to stay away from carbs. Love the combo of every ingredient on this tortilla. Savoury, juicy, bright. Simply healthy and delicious!

Eggs Benny (RM 26.80) - Homemade polenta, sous-vide thick-cut streaky bacon, poached kampung eggs, brown utter hollandaise, french beans sautéed in miso-garlic butter. The polenta loaf is tasty but slightly salty as you continue to eat over time. I think might need another extra eggs to melt on to the salty polenta. Otherwise, it will be a good balance breakfast meal.
On a side note, vegetarian option also made available: mushroom medley (white button mushroom, brown shimeji & osyter mushroom).

Kraftkorn cake (RM 16.00) - Flour, Rye Flour, mixed seeds and mix flour. One word, delicious.

Superfine also has the upper advantage as they have wide selection of beverage ranging from coffee to tea, kombucha to craft beers. Coffee starts from RM 9.00 (espresso shot) up to RM 18.00 (for filter coffee). Premium and classic chinese tea at the price of RM 11.00 per cup. Ale craft beers price starts from RM 20.00 per pint.

Personal Summary: Bright and broad environment, suitable for large group and big family. Superfine serves healthy breakfast and lunch, as well as wide variety of beverages - up to craft beer! Friendly and attentive service crew.

Remember the souffle back then from Wild Sheep Chase at Taman Desa? This Wild Sheep Home will be their new home that is located in Seksyen 17, behind Grub by Ah Hong. During my visit, they have shifted their focus onto coffee roasting, ice cream and bakery.
Interior wise, very clean minimalist white and spacious, filled with bakery oven and coffee roasting machine as well as shelves for reading materials.

Their roaster (Bear Coffee Roaster) - approach towards coffee are based of the Japanese style - highly robust without compromising sweetness. Serve perfectly on its own as a espresso, milk-based or as an Americano, regardless hot or ice. Like the above Iced Black (RM 9.00), bold but sweet, aromatic due to intense crema as per the way they roast their coffee beans.
The above, is the Hot Cappuccino (RM 11.00). As stated earlier, the beans are highly robust packed with boldness yet without compromising sweetness, perfect for every coffee drinkers who live nearby.

As for the bakery products, Wild Sheep Home work closely with Tommy Le Baker team from Kg. Attap to serve the community. So for those of you that have been to Tommy Le Baker, perhaps I don't have to say more - you know how it taste like.

Parking can be troublesome in Seksyen 17, so be early.

Here is to another "old but gold" discovery. One of the hottest cafe exists within the commercial area of The Hub SS2, surrounded by skyscraper condominiums and beautiful greens. Be excited to receive warm hospitality, turquoise wallpaper, patches of deconstructed wall bricks and their iconic beautiful mess open-concept layout.
Inspired by Australian cafe scene, Flakes decided it was the right move to serve the local community with freshly baked flaky croissants and pastries, farm-to-cup coffee, comfort food and thirst-quenching drinks! In short period of time as soon as they launched, crowds and medias have made their way to experience this unique cafe.

Dining area @ Mezzanine level.

Assorted Croissants
Having said that Flakes forte are in freshly bake croissants, with great thought process, they came out with variety of flavors to cater the market demand. Ranging from original butter croissant to Niko Neko Matcha croissant. Price of each croissant varies depending on its flavor, so do check them out at their counter. My favorite croissant goes to the Niko Neko Matcha croissant, I'm a big fan of matcha and they managed to craft it well to my personal preference.

White (RM 11)
In Flakes, cappuccino, flat white or latte will considered as "white" to make matter simple. Hence, if you are looking for a perfect cup of white that can give rich and bold coffee taste then Flakes will be the place for you. For your knowledge, they are using house blend of Colombia & Indonesia and if you are interested to learn more, do speak with their barista. Coffee enthusiasts who seek for single origin coffee (on rotation basis), do check with them as well for availability!

Krabby Olio (RM 24)
One of the best selling menu item, this sinful Krabby Olio consists of spaghetti tossed over with reasonable amount of chili flakes, garlic crisps, mud crab meat and topped of with delicate fish roe and shredded seaweed. Aromatic with perfect balance of heat and taste.

Tai Tai by the Beach (RM 24)
If you are looking for Thai-Malaysian inspired flavors, try the Flakes' special prawn and squid pasta, tossed over with bunga kantan, lemongrass, hint of chili, shredded cheese and ale. Enticing flavors and aroma from the dish that coupled with seafood ingredients such as prawns and squids. Spicy friendly.

Ngau Fan (RM 19)
Keen for local staple and protein to beef-up your day? Don't miss out this incredible rice bowl that has sliced beef marinated with worcestershire sauce, topped with a work of art poached egg and sprinkled with fried garlic crisps, sesame and spring onions. I love the entire rice bowl when it is completely mixed, giving me a reminiscence of my solo trip to Ho Chi Minh. Poached egg was cook perfectly and the fried garlic crisps emits and elevates the whole dish aroma.

In conjunction to combating the spread of Corona virus, Flakes has came out with a initiative to set food delivery service to the locals. Check-out https://flakes.beepit.com/ to learn more.

Better late than never. Grateful to have this opportunity to dine at a newly opened modern Italian inspired restaurant that they named themselves - GOODDAM. Decided to check out the recent advertised 3 Course Dinner Set Menu.
The layout of the restaurant is pretty straightforward coupled with its modern and minimalist design to provide the sense of comfort and Italian inspiration. Also, customers get to see young talents in action due to the open-kitchen concept, which keep everyone ponder what lies within the creation.

3 Course Meal (RM 99+/pax)

Complimentary
Before the starter begins, this is the Complimentary House Bread with Cultured Butter, and the far right with edible flower is the - Liver Mousse Tartlets with Tomato Jam. My best compliment goes to the liver mousse tartlets that has sweet tomato jam, incredible, an eye opening experience and in fact this taste better than the usual foie gras. Perfect flavor pairing.

The Starter

Warm Creamy Soup of Mussel & White Wine, Pea & Garlic Croutons
Ah! No doubt that the combination of the profile creates good flavor profile, predominantly from its creamy mussel soup and pea. My only wish to the chef is that the soup texture can be a little more thicker and flavor to it.. The soup that I had is light, there's no weight to my tongue, or in short, water-like texture. Contradicting to the name of the dish "creamy".

Cold Scallop Crudo, Citrus, Bottarga, Rice Crackers (+RM19)
It is the GOODDAM's version of scallop crudo. Quite nice, a way of opening one's appetite before the main. Well, having rice cracker at the side is another effort to give you some crunch but otherwise just purely on scallop crudo is fine.

The Main

Seared Seabass, Charred Kailan, Scallion Gremolata, Citrus Cream
I love it when seabass like the above, combine with acidity element like the citrus cream to elevate the taste of the ocean. The scallion boost its fragrant of the white meat. Simple yet giving a taste of ocean adventure.

Grilled Pork Belly, Spinach, Roasted Palermo Pepper & Carrot Puree
Grilled pork belly was fantastic, well balance of meat and fat, perfectly seasoned and smoked. The palermo pepper and the carrot puree elevate the grilled pork belly by adding different sensation and flavor to the meat. Awesome.

The Dessert

Salted Coconut Panna Cotta, Roselle Jam, Pandan Oil
Certainly not your typical panna cotta. GOODDAM revamped it into local context with dash of local ingredients such as pandan oil and roselle jam. Brilliant idea.

GOODDAM Tiramisu
Frankly speaking, I can't feel the difference of every tiramisu created. Here in GOODDAM, just to show you how the tiramisu is plated. Yes, the tiramisu contains rum.

Beverage
House Pour Red (RM 33)
The house pour by the glass of 125ml would be Uggiano Chianti Colli Fiorentini, 2016, Tuscany gives the flavor profile of cherry and red berries with hint of spices. Medium bodied, I personally chose to pair against my Roasted Pork Belly, as the fat content of the pork belly is quite obvious.

Verdict
Another affordable course meal that you can enjoy around Petaling Jaya area. Young talents with great aspiration of creating fine food, inspired by modern Italian. Summary favorites will be the Mousse Tartlets (mouth orgasm), Grilled Pork Belly and follow by the Cold Scallop Crudo.

Price & Service: 4/5
Ambience: 3/5
Food & Beverages: 3.5/5
