The Tan Yiek

facebook instagram google twitter tumblr linkedin
One year ago, I blogged about my experience in Pulau Pangkor  , and it happened to have
Pangkor Island Festival for one week within the island. So, on one particular day, Seraph Awaken
was on site to promote coffee culture in the vicinity and I was there too. . . .

Fast forward, I paid Seraph Awaken a visit recently, to try out their renowned hand brew method, with very much love and efforts that the owner had spent for years.
Seraph Awaken, located in the middle of Klang's Little India street, so being there - you will definitely indulge with the old-time sphere.

Again, old-time sphere was indeed overwhelming, even the exterior and the interior of the shop reveals it all. The sense of being within the state - gives a very good reminiscence of how people back then, enjoy their cup of coffee. You can say its a "conversation over coffee" or "coffee over conversation" kinda thing~

Visitors have the chance to witness the state of art of coffee by sitting at the coffee bar, and, that's where more interactions take place. This is where community bonds can be bind together naturally with no force.

Coffee Bar was pretty neat and eye-candy as well for coffee enthusiasts~

Needless to say, their menu was pretty simple and straightforward, you can look up at the walls.

After placing orders, its certain that one must wait for it to be process then being serve~
While waiting for my items to come, I usually loved to observe my surrounding about the people, props and anything that I could possibly find to observe at! So, the best part of my observation towards this cafe was, the cafe wasn't just quaint at overall but the personalized service was priceless.
Interaction is the key to sustain your number of visitors, which can convert these visitors into loyal guests. Another highlight of my observation was, everyone was pretty chill over their drinks and the environment, which I think its important - showing that the guests are enjoying every moment in the cafe.
She's doing my Hibiscus Coffee.

Here are the items :)

1-  Hibiscus Coffee @ RM 13.00
Hibiscus Coffee that served in a pretty tea cup :) The hibiscus mixture was processed under extreme heat of a Bunsen Burner, then mixed into black coffee liquid. The aroma was noticeable and it was pleasant to drink. Hint of hibiscus and black coffee was balanced.

2- Ethiopia Harrar (Hand brew) @ RM 12.00
Hand brew coffees here were surprisingly strong in taste! It must be the wetting process, going in at the slowest tempo. Found out that, it was bright in acidity but there's hint of earthly flavors as well.

3- Assorted Cake (Sliced)
Unfortunately, the cake deck displayed decent cakes during my visit, so... why not grab some and chill under the haze?

Towards the end, very satisfied in everything that I encountered with, a place where you might wanna deep yourself back into the past...
Hopefully to see something even more interesting!

Craving for cakes that has flavorsome taste, fluffy texture and delightful appearance as well as having a good cup of coffee simultaneously? I recently spotted a bakery shop which nestled in the heart of Shah Alam territory. Never knew that people began to invest in this sort of business in such area as the interest of public towards cakes, coffee and tea begun to rise.
It is inevitably that cafes spawn like mushrooms nowadays, all we gotta do, is to try.

Cake Jalan Tiung located at the far end corner, first floor above Ani Sup Utara(restaurant) which can be easily reveal from this angle as their signboard is just here.

The shop infused entire interior with minimalist white wall featuring several artistic paint, allocated with furnished brown tables and chairs as well as several racks that filled with vintage objects.

Cakes were freshly baked few hours prior to actual business hour. Cakes are then placed on top of the cake stands so that the customer can decide on what they want. If cakes aren't your favorite, don't worry because there's cookies as well :)
Bare in mind that the head baker will rotate the cake of their choice, so to avoid any disappointment, please visit their Facebook page for more info before paying them a visit.

This is the list of cakes that the bakery shop has to offered.

This two cakes right here are custom orders :) Head over to their Facebook Page for more details as these two cakes are not found in their menu!

Meet Salted Caramel & Chocolate. This cake often bakes by the shop so I'm sure the bakers are very confident in baking this with their eyes close. The buttercream frosting not too overpower to compliment the chocolate sponge cake. The salted caramel has a strong aroma as well as sweetness to complete as a whole. Lovely.

Cookie Monster is the cake's name. It has this chocolate cream filled in between of those fluffy sponge cakes and on the top filled with whipped cream, Oreo dust, freshly baked cookie and a pull of salted caramel. The overall won't make oneself gets too full.

This one is my favorite. Samseng Kg. Pandan is a delicate pandan cake with coconut whipped cream frosting drizzled with gula Melaka. This cake is so light and tasty. What can go wrong with pandan component?

Overall, its good and I'm satisfied of their everything, everything that they have to offered. Delicious cakes, good coffee and decent price!
This is as far as I tried. Will update on it when I have new opportunity to try other rotations.

It looks like the bakery game is strong everywhere as there are many demands for it.
What's next?

Do you remember those days when we were an infant?
Though there's no memories of us being a baby kid,
We grow up as the time pass,
Time flies as we are eating, sleeping, playing ... or probably whining for new toys...?
At certain point, whereby we'll start to think about future.

Do you remember the days when we were a TOTAL strangers?
Those days when we had no details of both of us.
We started to know each other by breaking the ice,
we talk, we share, we work ... to the extend that we share joy or sorrow together?

Back then, do you recall how our nature look like?
Are they green or perhaps ... soaring skyscraper(s)?
How about the environmental odour? Thick fragrant of lively flora(s) or thick smoke shells surround around our lungs?

Best part of the past was, having no technology gadget(s).
Those days when we assume that having food is the best.
Greennnyyy scenary.
Wind whispers.

We all know teaching is best for all,
Everyday, people rise and fall around us.
Those who obey acknowledge light.
Those who disobey... probably acknowledge darkness.

Wealth? Does that word even exist previously?
All we knew was self-disciplinary defeats wealth.
Wealth is just an act as a symbol of meaningless crown.

What more when there is no need for us to shoulder responsibilities.
Keep calm, seat back and relax.

Have you tried Hainanese version of Chicken Chop? If you have not try any of them yet - well, now- it is time to try one yourself or with your friends and family !
I have to confess that the Hainanese did an excellent job on creating their own variation of chicken chop, it is different compare to the western version, in terms of flavour and the side dishes that serve along in it.

I was able to discovered this restaurant however, the traffic at the area does not seems to be smooth due to the restaurant located near Port Klang, thus many trucks were busy transporting goods out of it. Obviously, I need to follow the flow of the traffic.

I had hard time finding this shop, because of the trucks had blocked my view from the opposite route. Thankfully, the locals over there are helpful enough to get me here.

Sorry for the blurry image.

The shop directly facing hustling road, so if you want to get a place for your car, I suggest you to find a car park behind the shop lots. You will need to find a way in order to get a place for your carrrrrrr
Without any further ado, I immediately get a seat and ordered a black coffee ('kopitiam' style) and their signature dish. Hainanese Chicken Chop.

RM 1.40 per cup.

RM 8.50 per plate. Portion is proportionate to the cost of a dish. Their chicken chop glazed with sweet delicious tomato sauce and served along with potatoes and green peas.

This makes a perfect combo to fulfil your stomach capacity. Hainanese Chicken Chop accompanied with sweet, dark roasted black coffee~ Moreover, the price of every menu item is affordable and worth a journey to dine-in.

On the other hand, their restaurant also known for other dishes such as Kaya & Margarine Toast, Hailam Mee and Hainanese Fish & Chip.
Honestly, I'm not a big of fan of those dishes, however - you can refer to another source for more information:

Hello readers from around the Earth ! ~
It's my first blog post so allow me to present you a post which is related to the
Traditional Chinese Food / Snack / Dessert ,
--> Tang Yuan (Glutinous Rice / 汤圆 / Tong Shui) <--

During the old days, the Chinese will ONLY prepare these traditional food/snack/dessert on certain date/festive such as Lunar Festival or also known as Yuan Xiao. However, as time passes, generation changed- NOW, TangYuan can be prepare at anytime and anywhere! Everyone from around the world are able to give it a bite too ! Pictures below are the example that I would like to share with you today !

Customers who enjoy eating traditional Chinese food/snack/dessert should drop by here

-Restaurant Five Five Five *with the Chinese empress  picture on the board* located at
Jalan Batu Nilam 3, Bukit Tinggi, 41200, Klang Selangor
 (Nearby Giant mall !)

 (Corner Shop lot)

(Picture says: Elderly busy preparing TangYuan for customers who had already placed their order)
**(Forgot to mention that, this hawker store once visited & broadcasted by Axian Jason Yeoh of Astro AEC few years back)**

( Big  filled Tang Yuan [2 Balls per bowl] [RM1.80] - Surprisingly, this big ball texture does not stick to my teeth, and it's very easy + delicious to eat. yummm )

( Big filled Tang Yuan [INSIDE] : With enormous Peanut paste inside ! It simply stimulates consumer's taste bud due to the good quality of peanut paste that they have applied in it ! )

( Small balls of Tang Yuan which cost RM 1.70 per bowl , comes with different colors - if you are lucky enough to get it :P )

( Hello lil tang yuan ballz , shine bright like a pearl  )

( TangYuan soup are Ginger based ! It's good for health, definitely ! )

* Oh ! and below will be ... *
( Dry traditional snack , Mua Chi [ 麻芝 ] , small plate RM2.40 , big plate RM3.00 )

Overview: It's good to have this hawker store around in our life because "our" (Chinese) foods tradition are dying mainly because we tend to ignore the importance of keeping our tradition alive. However, i believe that the inner flames of the owner who runs the TangYuan/MuaChi store - definitely able to make the future generations to remember our traditional food/snack/dessert !

Anyways, the owner of the hawker store are skillful enough to produce their TangYuan and MuaChi to achieve perfect consistency , elasticity and maximized taste!

Well, some of you might ask or curious about the quantity of the TangYuan BALL together with the price , all I can say is they did an excellent job on balancing the quantity of the ball and the price which is simple to say => 1 to 1 ratio [1:1] , not too many-not too little and yet, the price are reasonable for customers to make a payment .

--> Be advised that TangYuan are best consume while it is still hot !
Lastly, why not give it a try and comment below on what you think about this matter :)
