To expand my boundaries and knowledge on specialty coffee, I came across to this new independent coffee shop called RINSE. RINSE is managed by a very young, talented and passionate individual named Mervy, who often labelled himself as the "Brew God". Prior to his very first opening in RINSE, he worked under several reputable cafes in the past and greatly honed his skill as a barista over the years.

One day he realized that not many knows or appreciate specialty coffee, therefore, his dream to educate other strangers on specialty coffee became a reality with RINSE, which is a place where anyone nearby could come by and have a drink, perhaps, to receive free education on what is coffee all about. He stated that he will conduct weekly coffee education by having the local roasters to display their sample beans around!

Oh, did I forget to mention that the weekly coffee education is FREE of Charge?

On that particular day, I was lucky to have a great session with Cloud Catcher Asia in RINSE, a reputable roaster that is first founded in Singapore then Malaysia. They shared a variety of great samples with us and we get to know more stories behind the beans. With all these moment, they as a key coffee player hope that we could give more support to the coffee industry as a whole, the brighter future of specialty coffee will prevail.

The cupping session.

If you are a fan of The Red Beanbag of Publika, you will definitely love this (Yellow Brick Road) because they have the same concept that you are asking for, except - it is on another different location.
To cut long story short, the coffee and cakes are identical as The Red Beanbag because the head barista, Jason Loo was the one behind the cast. As for the food, Yellow Brick Road adapt 80% similarity from The Red Beanbag and produce another few different meal to represent it's uniqueness to stand out as Yellow Brick Road.

Was here on 1st of May. The queue is crazy. Waited for almost an hour or so.
Patience is virtue.
Oh by the way, there's a new pancake house by Yellow Brick Road - incoming!
Wicked Den....

When there's heavy crowd in the restaurant, everybody are encourage to practice space-sharing. There's no chance for you to get privacy space as everybody are here to dine, unless you are lucky that the server pick a good spot for you.

The foodies! Most of them are very similar to Red Beanbag, just that the price is bit pricier!
-Mr Cheesy Mac (Macaroni with Cheese)
-I Wanna Be Kaya (Toast sprinkle with nuts, fruits and served with kaya syrup)
-Egg Norwegian (Two Poached Eggs with smoked salmon and fried onion at the bottom.)
-Baked Cheese (Beef and savoury inside, baked with cheese.)
Average price is at RM 25.00 per Item in this picture (not inclusive of service charge and GST yet).

After our lovely brunch, we head to the back of the restaurant for some photoshoot session :)

:Verdict:
The price of several menu item is slightly higher than Red Beanbag(well, depending on which items). The restaurant have heavy crowd due to its rating and its previous achievement gained by the Head Barista, the food presentation and taste are constantly consistent, so if you ever wanted to try YBR, make a reservation or be there early!

I've heard a lot regarding this cafe called Thursdvys @ Jalan Sulaiman, TTDI from friends
and also seen people posting tons of pictures of thursdvys over Instagram,
then I did few readings from other bloggers' review and decided to visit them on a fine evening.

Here, I'm at thursdvys started with the first snap shot at middle of the road before getting across to the cafe.
This is the front view of the thursdvys cafe, I believed the owner ventured the business with passion. The exterior of the cafe gives a hint of 3D design.
Moreover, they also did a little transformation to their entrance, a little tricky prism-like design.
Inside, thursdvys have all these shaped transparent-boxes nailed to the wall, where they take these props-decoration to another level!

One of instagramers' and picture fnatics' spot of taking pictures. If you seen #thursdvys on Instagram, then you will know what I meant.

Not to mention that, I love these outdoor seats with wood furnitures, customers able to enjoy coffees outdoor. I have seen people playing guitar over here. A very "self-treat at home" environment.

Look ! The interior design of this cafe! Cant see what I actually meant ? Scroll below.

Prism-like shaped interior design.

Self-service in terms of, be at the counter then Order at the Counter and the employee will serve right to your table. Common style of services within the indie-cafes nowadays.

Since I visit the cafe in the evening, so I did not order their lunch menu items and the dinner menus are an hour away but I have another plan for dinner, so... I only order cakes and coffees.

Bottom left is the Captain Murphy @ RM 16/slice. Sponge cake layered on with icing cream (small hint of  pistachio) taste so good !
Top right: Cappuccino RM 10/cup.
Bottom left: Cronut RM5/piece. Dough that fried into crisp then final touch up with glaze of caramel syrup & the texture is puff pastry kind of texture.
Top right: Latte RM 10 / cup.

As I was slowly sipping my cup of coffee, one of their barista, friendly approached to me and offered me to try on their current research, in which beans are suitable for the dripping method ^_^

Baristas are configuring the grammage of the beans.

I wish I was more knowledgeable about coffee and its game but.... AHAHAHA, will learn more about it soon.

Verdict: Overall, not bad for a place to chill or have a meal on. The shop design charms a lot, that can attract people into it - especially the photographers. Price of the cakes and several menu items might be a little too high on average basis, but it's okay for those who are not price-sensitive or perhaps several locals got used to it.
Maybe next re-visit, I wanna try out their lunch or dinner menu items !

Cheers~!

Yesterday(Tuesday), went for afternoon high tea session with friends @ Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, to try out the desserts & pastries as well as to burn off some time rather than just rotting at home.
Although Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur has the status of 5-star hotel, the price for the high tea
is affordable compare to other hotels around.
Moreover, indulge yourself with the best scenery that Grand Hyatt KL could offer, which is the 360 degree panorama city view!

This is the Afternoon Tea Set (RM 68++/person)
With the Afternoon Tea Set, it comes with:
-Tea pot with tea of your choice.
-One plate of scones
-One plate of assorted sandwiches
-(Lowest tier) : Pistachio & Raspberry slice, Hazelnut eclairs, Opera cakes.
-(Mid tier) : Financiers and oat pot - mousse , cream
-(Top tier) : Macaroons and Biscotti.

Then we ordered two A la Carte desserts that is best selling here... which is

The bottom left : Straight From the Oven Chocolate Cake, raspberry sherbet, vanilla anglaise sauce.
The top right : THIRTY8 Signature Cake. A cylinder chocolate cake, glaze with caramel syrup, raspberries fruits and add with a dollop of banana ice cream.

Honestly, this is enough to make my stomach full for the whole afternoon tea time.

Contemporary interior design.

Long dining table for big group of diners.

Thirty8 Open Concept Kitchen~

Bar

Elegant Afternoon High Tea session is best enjoy during weekdays, when everybody is busy with their work and you are here* enjoying it sip-by-sip.

Table setup for dinner is ready.

-Struggle to find a place to dine so that you are able to satisfy your own tummy?
-Are you afraid to dine outside because the portion of the meal does not scale well to it's price?
 OR PERHAPS ,
-Looking for a good restaurant just to treat your loved ones' just like me?

Allow me to introduce you the S.Wine Cafe @ Publika The Boulevard mall which located in Solaris Dutama, Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia !

Outside* view of the Publika Mall

The geographical location of the restaurant was placed deep inside Ben's Independent Grocer ( Level UG1 ) , which I find it difficult to discover ! However, thanks to the recommendations stated by other food critics, I'm able to find this restaurant with ease !

Front entrance into S.Wine Cafe by walking straight then turn right, and you will find a way in.

Pink piglets are the first thing you will see. [Decorations\prop]

S.Wine Cafe has very comfy and cool interior design , resulted in- customers'll definitely love it and treat it like their own house!

S.Wine Cafe menu, which is simple and neat.

^( Image size was set to 'Extra large' due to the menu font's size so that readers can read it without hassle ! Note that "Beverage" segment  printed on the next page, so , I think that the list of beverage is not a necessity to be display here because 'we all know what is it'. )

Below are images of finger-licking good meal !

Pea and Ham soup [ RM14 ] , pea was blended well and no lumps to be found , added with few blocks of ham and at last - topping decorate with fresh cream on it !

Hearty Vegetable Soup [ RM 14] a tomato-based soup, well balanced between the level of sour and salt.  Filled with Chunks of ham, cannellini beans, barley & sauteed vegetables , topped with parmesan cheese and fresh coriander.

Garlic & Arugula Pork Sausages with Sauerkraut Rosti [ RM 29 ] . Two huge grilled home made garlic & arugula pork sausages served with sauerkraut rosti and a dollop of sour cream.

Mexicana Pulled Pork [RM31] , pork burger slopped with mexicana pulled pork on a brioche burger bun, served with coleslaw & crinkled fries, not the best burger in town but at least better than the others, eg: MacDonalds?

Loaded Potato Skins [RM 14] : Potato skins loaded with bacon chips, melted mozzarella cheese and topped with sour cream. Once you bite, you can get lots of bacon chips with melted mozzarella in your mouth !

Pan Roasted Chicken A La Coq Au Vin [RM 29] ; Whole chicken leg braised in white wine, herbs , pancetta , & pork stock, served with toasted  ciabatta. I must say that this chicken meat was well tenderized while the white wine aroma was empowering.

Pork and pine nut sausage roll [RM 19]  :  Pork sausage meat with pine nuts, mushrooms & garlics, warped in puff pastry & baked till golden brown, served with tomato relish & side salad.

Pan-Roasted Pork Chops with Sauerkraut (RM29), in seeded mustard & cream sauce on a bed of crushed potatoes with bacon & sauerkraut, burts of tongue-tantalizing goodness.

Author's note:  As what you had viewed above, "a picture is worth a thousand words" is what I can say for now... The foods are amazing. Everything there are perfect and recommended ( depends on your own preferences ). Portion of the food are large , scaled well with it's price-which is reasonable. The waiters and waitress' are friendly and dedicated to their customers . What more can I say?

A reminder to all : If you don't want to queue for a table, be sure to make a reservation before you arrive or you can go there early before 7 p.m (peak hour) .
