Superfine.kl is inside the Seventeen Mall at Section 17 Petaling Jaya, easy reach for the surrounding neighbours to grab a quick cuppa joe or even a healthy brunch. Also consider one of the top eatery among the rest within the area itself - the waiting list at the entrance speaks for itself!

Broad dining space and the natural bright light from the floor-to-ceiling window makes the interior feels inviting and comfortable as a place to enjoy food and conversation over coffee. Easy to oversee how barista brew the coffee or to see what's available on the cake station.

Lamb Tacos al Pastor (RM 21.80) - Slow roasted New Zealand lamb shoulder, topped with harissa mayo, grilled pineapple, pickled onions, salsa roja and fresh coriander wrapped tortilla. Perfect choice especially for ladies that trying to stay away from carbs. Love the combo of every ingredient on this tortilla. Savoury, juicy, bright. Simply healthy and delicious!

Eggs Benny (RM 26.80) - Homemade polenta, sous-vide thick-cut streaky bacon, poached kampung eggs, brown utter hollandaise, french beans sautéed in miso-garlic butter. The polenta loaf is tasty but slightly salty as you continue to eat over time. I think might need another extra eggs to melt on to the salty polenta. Otherwise, it will be a good balance breakfast meal.
On a side note, vegetarian option also made available: mushroom medley (white button mushroom, brown shimeji & osyter mushroom).

Kraftkorn cake (RM 16.00) - Flour, Rye Flour, mixed seeds and mix flour. One word, delicious.

Superfine also has the upper advantage as they have wide selection of beverage ranging from coffee to tea, kombucha to craft beers. Coffee starts from RM 9.00 (espresso shot) up to RM 18.00 (for filter coffee). Premium and classic chinese tea at the price of RM 11.00 per cup. Ale craft beers price starts from RM 20.00 per pint.

Personal Summary: Bright and broad environment, suitable for large group and big family. Superfine serves healthy breakfast and lunch, as well as wide variety of beverages - up to craft beer! Friendly and attentive service crew.

Are you a fan of northern-style foodie? If yes, do check out this Bob & Family hawker store in Kota Damansara. As some of you might have already know, the business itself has its own reputation, known for his northern style of cooking on "pasembor", "mee goreng" and "kuey teow goreng".

Besides the reputation on the chef's cooking approach, all types of food menu only cost you RM 6.00 per plate. Affordable indeed, but does it compliment well with the price? Read on!

There will be customers all around the business hour, seats are limited but customer turnover is reasonably fast. Meanwhile, Chef Bob & family frenzied towards customers' orders, stir fry with furnace, expediting orders out from the hot work. Quick-hand they got there!

Mee Goreng without Sotong (Above) vibrant and smells good at first sight. It was delicious, well seasoned and stir fried perfectly without overcooking it to dry. The dish taste even better with lime squeeze all over the plate. It gives more acidity at the end of your palate.
If you want to add sotong (squid) to your Mee Goreng, refer to the image below.

Pasembor wise, a "No" from me. Why? I won't say that the whole dish is inedible but this variation is just way too watery for me. There's also some undissolved sugar as I chew, making it strange to have this as a meal. Conclusion, I will stick back to their Mee Goreng.

Personal Summary: If you miss having northern food, feel free to visit Bob & Family in Kota Damansara. An affordable place to enjoy great local cuisine. Highly recommend the Mee Goreng. If you like watery gravy Pasembor, then give it a try.

Kepong's favourite - D'Fotune Western is one of the most happening restaurant and best cheap eat in Pusat Bandar Menjalara, that has been serving the community for quite number of years at a very affordable price in the neighbourhood.

From afar, it may look like a mamak restaurant due to the typical signage design & color used, the dining area expanded towards outdoor area as if it really looks like one, well the truth about it is that the restaurant is always full inside out regardless of occasion. Not to forget that most of the food items are cheap and big in portion.

Creamy Wild Mushroom Soup (RM 6.50) comes with bun and butter. Very straightforward, mixed mushroom soup in cream, topped with croutons. The taste reminds me of the creamy mushroom soup from Pizza Hut last time.

Oven Baked Escargot (RM 16.80 for 6 pieces). Spicy escargot baked with herb butter and melted cheese all over. Taste yummy like seriously, well baked. The combination from the melted cheese is impressive.

Grilled Chicken Chop (RM 17.80) served with daily vegetable and French Fries, mushroom sauce. Tender piece of protein, delicious mushroom gravy. The rest, french fries and daily vegetables are quite straightforward.

This above, is D'Fortune Western specialty - D'Fortune Assorted Chicken Sausages Platter (RM 25.80). A plate combination of chicken footlong frank, mushroom & chicken frank, farm house chicken frank, cheese & chicken frank and chicken breakfast chipolata served with onion ring and gravy. Very large in the actual view and quite filling.

Personal Summary: If you are looking for cheap eat, especially on western cuisine, this place is amazing BUT can be crowded during peak hours. Be there early to avoid stuck in a traffic congestion and to get better carpark nearby the restaurant.

Every country, place or even the universe - has its own best kept secret. Soon Heng Social Club is one of them, amassed their reputation with discreet way of conveying their messages through old, funky, or you can call it mystifying decorations, posters or props on the online platforms.

To be part of their social club member, it will take awhile to apply. Some said it took them a week, some may say a month or even dreadful, some gave up applying (not exaggerating) . The key to success is on the luck, timing and persistence. In fact, right into RMCO phase, I got my approval as soon as they posted up on their reopening.

Yes, mind you - by invitation only.

Classic old school board games, nostalgic poster of a young lad. Kids in the 70's will know.

It was the exotic props - wrapping the patrons back to the old days, bringing em' back the memories as you dine. In fact, some corners are dark with supernatural" elements. Beware.
The bar.

On the left is the Nutmeg Sour (RM 6) and on the right was the Artisan Hawthorn Berry (RM 8). The beverages did brought me back to my humble beginning before stepping into city, however, I realised, both drinks were a little too sweet. Feedback were given after payment.

For appetizer, I had the sharing platter of pork bossam with homemade kimchi, fresh herbs, ginger scallion sauce and sriracha (RM 35). A Korean inspired dish with Soon Heng's local twist especially on the ginger scallion sauce and the herbs used. Overall is a decent dish. It may also be tedious for intimacy dinner date.

For the main course, here's a plate of pan seared fresh market seabass with romesco sauce, grilled zucchini parmesan, lemon & thyme couscous and grilled king oyster mushrooms (RM 45). The best dish on that night, the catch was fresh - perfectly seasoned. Coupled with romesco sauce at the side to give brightness and hint of heat to it.

Another main was the grilled Vietnamese inspired premium pork shoulder chop with sambal matah, lemon & thyme couscous, ulam, grilled king oyster mushroom (RM 42). Portion was huge, worth the bucks, the grilled pork shoulder chop was good with the sambal matah. My only "tiny" complain on this dish was on the amount of sambal matah's raw ingredient superb annoying that it got stuck in between teeth. Damn.

Personal Summary: By reservation-booking only. Space can be a lil' tight for some people. The food might take longer than usual to arrive (appx. 20-30 minutes for appetizer. 45-60 minutes for main course). Price figure on menu might seems absurd but the portion is worth your buck. Food menu changes monthly.

Now, here's the question: Is Soon Heng still the 2020's best kept secret in town?

CLV or C'est La Vie is another new cafe located in Jalan Kenari Puchong, with modern urban interior that accompanied with beautiful indoor flowers - stylish, sense of laid-back and modern, just opened their doors to the public earlier this year.

First impression, unsure what are their unique proposition - looking at their menu, however, their Signature Pork Burger did look attractive enough to attract my attention.

CLV's Signature Pork Burger (RM 25.00) did look sinful at first glance because of the jaw-dropping delicious pork burger that served with enormous amount of crispy potato waffles fries. The burger itself consist of pork bacon strips, marinated pork patty, a slice of cheddar cheese and topped with homemade mayonnaise. Juicy, tender, flavorful. Indeed satisfying and sinful at the same time.

Calories don't count right when you are having a good meal?

In conjunction to lunch time promotion, CLV is offering customers with lunch set. Hence, I have decided to pair the Signature Pork Burger with the Niko Neko Matcha, the lunch set total worth of RM 32.00

My personal summary: New cafe, opened in the first quarter of 2020. Signature Pork Burger is no joke, bloody delicious but beware of insane calorie count. Comfortable, clean and modern environment. The down side is the parking, can be troublesome during peak hours. Service quality from the crew can be improvise further to provide warmer service and product knowledge.

Sometimes in KL is hard to find good cheap food restaurant because most of the F&B outlets around KL are expensive, catering to most Executives or the expatriates. So here, feel free to drop by at Little Rara Thai Noodle House if you miss eating Thai food at a dirt cheap price. Moreover, it is a Halal certified restaurant which means you can bring your Muslim friends here.

The shop basically represents the Thai especially with the portrait of the Thai Monarchy and some other obvious decorations. Comfortable, spacious and clean to dine in. Most of the crowd are from nearby companies like BDO International, FGV and so on.

If you miss having boat noodle, then you should try Little Rara's Speed Boat Noodle (Chicken) RM 8.00 for one person's portion. Fair enough strength of dark soy broth immense with mixed spices and herbs coupled with meatball and shredded chicken that will bring you for a quick detour to Thailand.

Not the best but also do try out Little Rara's Pad Thai Vege (RM 8.00). This Pad Thai has fair amount of seasoning prepared at the side to mixed with the stir-fried rice noodle, tofu, spring onions, and beansprout.

Alternatively, you may also end your dinner with Little Rara's Ladna Chicken (RM 9.00). It is a plate of rice noodle covered with chicken bits, vegetables and mouth-watering gravy with a slice of fresh lime. A dish that can enjoy by many.

My personal summary: Definitely worth visiting this shop because it is cheap especially those who want to order a la carte. Decent portion. Halal restaurant.

Monroe, is one of the latest restaurant cafe located within KLoe Hotel Kuala Lumpur that is comfortable, vibrant and overseeing the bustling street of Bukit Bintang.

Comfort food starts with the Truffle Fries (RM 16.00) which basically was double fried hand cut fries tossed with white truffle oil and herbs, served with truffle aioli. Irresistible once you start eating!

You may also try this Lamb Ragu (RM 38.00) that has 36 hours slow braised lamb ragu, served with marinated onions, confit carrots, topped with shaved parmesan cheese with fresh herbs over the tagliatelle pasta. Lamb ragu was tender, pasta was cooked to al dente, perfect firmness from the confit carrots... overall, all good.

The taste of Beef Char Siew Bowl (RM 34.00) was good however I don't recommend ordering it due to the price and the ingredients offered. With RM 34, you can spend on 3-4 pax size of authentic pork char siew from a hawker stall. Slow cooked Australian beef lacquered with house char siew glaze and roasted over open charcoal, soft egg, grilled carrots, crisp cucumber and aged onion balsamic glaze over coconut scented rice.

Going extra vegan mode? Don't worry, Monroe got you cover with this big, healthy and delicious Beetroot Burger (RM 28.00). It has slow char grilled beetroot, smashed avocado, whipped herb cheese, heirloom tomato, and pickled onions on charcoal toasted sweet potato brioche bun, with crisp potato wedges.

As for beverage, opted for Hot Cappuccino - quite milky and less robust. The blend was roasted by Common Man Coffee Roasters apparently. Feedback given to one of the staff.

My personal summary: Great ambient overseeing both quiet lush and bustling road at the same time. Friendly service. Personal favorite is the Truffle Fries & Lamb Ragu pasta. Skip the Beef Char Siew Rice Bowl. Decent price. Will I return? Yes but not so soon - to try other food menu.
