I'm astound to learn the news of a new coffee shop (One Half) recently launched their business in an old yet matured area, in Taman Paramount - a place known for its local delicacies such as Nasi Lemak Bumbung, XO fish head noodle and the popular burger sold in nationwide, namely myBurgerLab and many more!

What makes One Half a unique coffee shop that it stands out among the rest in that particular area is that One Half operates beneath Brats's shelter, in result of specialized in serving specialty coffee, delicious cakes and tea as well as their sinful hot-dog bun (brought to you by Brats).
"Why One Half is specialized in serving specialty coffee? Why is One Half so unique among the rest as they only serve coffee, tea and cakes as well as the aid of Brats serving hot-dog bun?"

Long story short, the steamy steampunk helmed by young coffee enthusiasts - Mr. Koay and friends. Keith Koay especially, who recently crowned as the Malaysia Barista Champion 2016 and represented Malaysia to compete in the World Barista Championship 2016 in the city of Dublin as the top contender. With his knowledge and technical skills on brewing a cup of coffee, certainly that any of you who is a coffee connoisseur, would appreciate and fall in love in the state of coffee world under his sleeve. No doubt that his hard work and consistency of practice, has lift him up to a whole new level. Brats is an establishment that sells hot-dog bun with their very own homemade German sausage which makes them a unique eatery that caters the demand. With both establishments collaborating with one another is a plus point, which benefit both side in terms of product varieties has to offer to the walk-ins.

Welcome!
Selection of specialty coffee beans on the counter top.
Here, you may opt for the typical espresso-based coffee or the hand brew coffee. Each brewing method has their own respective beans to go with. So better ask the barista for more details!
Cakes are also available on board. Cakes offer are tentative.

1- Kenya Gathaita AA @ RM 16.00
Hand brewing be like?
During my visit to One Half, I told Keith that I'm looking for something fruity and bright in taste. So he recommended me to try this bean, Kenya Gathaita AA and it fit perfectly right to my buds. This Kenya Gathaita AA  has the taste notes of raspberry, pomegranate and fruit tea. A decent strength of flavor and aroma as well as brightness to it.

2- Lemon Pistachio @ RM 12.00
I had the Lemon Pistachio cake. The texture of each layer of sponge cake, flavor and frosting are good, in my opinion (not too sour and sweet in taste. This cake goes well if you have earthier and darker coffee). The amount of pistachio nuts on top are generous too.

3- Cappuccino @ RM 10.00
Champion is in da house~~ Cuppa Joe is in the making.
Last but not least, it is mandatory to try their white coffee since the champion is in the house. One Half uses their very own blend (mix of Brazil & Columbian beans) to brew this right balance cup of coffee. My personal impression at first sip, it somehow has a punch of unidentified flora and fruity flavor, follow-up by noticeable hint of brightness and acidity. As I continued to drink, it has hint of chocolaty to it. Mild yet sweet, in general.
In conclusion, this place has become one of my favorite in my personal cafe hopping list, due to the excellent cup of coffee that they are able to execute and a quiet place to be in, during day time on weekdays.

Apart from coffee and tea, you may opt for their homemade soda drink or beer. Pertaining to food, Brats hotdog bun is not available for sale yet due to the upgrading in-progress in their kitchen. Best is to wait for One Half or Brats's official announcement.

Hey coffee shops, its been awhile since I hop like a mad bunny, to get my caffeine fix. It is Wednesday 22nd of June today, a weekday whereby I'm suppose to be in university but has turned out to be a public holiday for all the local citizen of Malaysia, coincidentally, I was in Sri Petaling, a place flooded with the rapid growth of coffee shops. That's where I found Neighbourhood Coffee by accident.

Neighbourhood coffee just open recently (months ago), captivated me at first sight with its simplicity, clean and minimalist interior. I love it when they have large window panels to give out natural lighting for crazy 21st-century Instagramers !

1# Quick info:

They serve All-Day Brunch (until 5pm), variety of Panini(s), Churros (highlight items), cakes & pastries, last but not least, coffee and tea.

2# Quick info:

Are you a coffee connoisseur, then this is the place for you to chill, sit back and enjoy your cuppa Joe~ as they rotate their beans periodically so that coffee fanatic like you, get to taste different bean profile.

1) Smores Mini Tart @ RM 3.50

A tart with charred marshmallow on top filled with chili chocolate fillings. Looks cute, mini and appetizing from the outside, unfortunately, the taste was mediocre. Also, it is quite hard to split it apart, literally need two forks or a hand to split em.

2) Mary's Berries @ RM 17.00

Icing sugar dusted churros with strawberries slices, blueberries, dark chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream sprinkled with cereal flakes. It has semi-crisp (outer layer) upon slicing through the churro but quite doughy in-texture. If you love this kind of churro texture, this place is for you. If you prefer it to be crispy inside-out, this place probably not for you. Overall, not bad for a quick bite.

3) Cappuccino @ RM 11.00

It is a medium roast coffee blend of 50% Brazil (natural) and 50% Mexican (wet) that gives a balance cup full bodied, hint of chocolate and nutty flavors.

I don't mind coming back here again to try their other churros menu~

The local sure knows about the special hideout within Centrio Pantai Hillpark apartment whenever they need caffeine or to rest their defeated soul for a short while before continuing tasks await them ahead.
M-TI Cup (/ˈem(p)tē/ /kəp/) studio managed by a husband & wife, inspired by the serene Taiwanese coffee house concept which provides warm and personalized hospitality by interacting with one another, as well as to provide and promote the best out of filter coffee by using specialty coffee beans. Just in case if you are hungry, there are a few limited selections of food available, depending on their dailies.
Oh and do bare in mind that they do not serve white coffee.

The entire space is actually a SOHO, which resulted in limited of seatings as the interior had been refit into a total picturesque with coffee brewing equipments, life plants, modernize furnitures and DIY bookshelf  - hence, cosy experience here is definite and you will never ditch this place so soon.
"At times, all you wanted is a cosy environment like this for a temporary mind-easing ..."

Should you choose to seat at the coffee bar, embrace the sense of passionate within as it will grow even more stronger when you are spectating how filter coffee its done step by step by a barista.
In case if you are new towards filter coffee, you may refer to the guide below or ask the barista for help. Mainly the barista will identify your preferred sensory before recommending which beans are suitable for you.
If you are still unsure or doubt about the recommendation, you can always refer to the handwritten menu book :)

-Panama Boquete Finca Kotowa Don K @ RM 17.00
A cup of coffee that possessed winey, juicy along with floral notes and a delicate acidity.

-El Salvador @ RM 17.00 (Left) , Pinarello blend @ RM 15.00 (right)
On the left, we have El Salvador that has bright fruity acidity with note of grapefruits and apples as well as combination hints of plum and nutty. It gives off the honey sweet and creamy body finishing.
As for the right, the Pinarello blend is complex as there are sweet and savory blend yields flavor of nutty, woody and dark chocolate.

- Tiramisu @ RM 16

To lift up the mood of a person, M-TI CUP offers glasses of perfect Tiramisu that is enchanted with Rum and Kahlua to pair well with the coffee. Excellent and sinful texture that will easily melt through your tongue.
/hmmm, why is their mascarpone cheese looks a bit green in color?/
The couple of the M-TI CUP studio is an innovative people because they tweaked the recipe of the Tiramisu that no other shop does. What they did was adding a small amount of matcha powder inside the mascarpone cheese in order to provide additional twist in taste and aroma, however, the recipe still remains experimental until proper feedbacks and measurement are satisfy enough to overcome all negativity.
"Pick me up, will ya'?"

If you are looking for a quiet yet secretive place for good coffee experience, then this must be the place for you. Also, don't forget to try their homemade Tiramisu that may pick you up ^_^

Otherwise, Centrio's best kept secret...

If wine has many varietals to offer, so does coffee. Here in The HUB, you will get the opportunity to experience vast variety of coffee beans. The owner himself is a coffee fanatic that earned himself a few certifications from the specialty coffee association and now has become one of the best barista cum micro roaster in town. So, the beans that you will be seeing/trying are mostly roasted in-house by the owner himself.
Although the area within has got more than 2 cafes in action, The HUB stands firm in their own identity, objectives and goals - to spread the love of specialty coffee with the local community. May they able to attract potential crowd that has the same passion as them.
"Owner (Nicholas) tend to roasts the beans on him own"
Besides coffee, they also offered few selections of tea and carbonated drinks. Other than that, would be brunch menus, desserts, cakes and pastries.
"pour over or presso-coffeee?"

-Uganda @ RM 12.00
If you are tired of sipping light bodied filtered coffee, then you should try beans from Uganda. It gives medium to heavy bodied with hint of chocolaty and earthiness. Very mild acidity.

-Breakfast @ RM 15.00
Something healthy and light, to pair up with my filtered coffee in the morning! Go for this! A plate of two sunny side-ups, one chicken sausage, salad, a spoonful of red bean and two slices of focaccia bread.

-Salted caramel banana cake @ RM 13.00
Any banana fanatic? Try out their salted caramel banana cake topped with sweet walnut. Love the caramel as it is not too overpowering, which makes it pleasant to eat with the banana cake. Only remark was the texture of the cake was harder than usual cake texture. What do you think?

Fun Fact: One of the cafe that acquired three Mahlkonig  EK 43, each have their very own usage!
After all I was thinking that I should try out their white-coffee and few other food menu on my next visit. Bucket list goes on and on...
Quick recap:
-More than 30 types of coffee beans to choose // A place where you can get filtered coffee at RM 12 as a starting price, up to RM 30 for the high-end grade.
-Good place to know more about coffee.
-To try out different menu on next visit.
-A good place to conduct self-study/dating/hangout as the environment there is quite still.
-Best visit during weekends for easy parking.

a cafe for the enthusiasts
There are certain areas in Selangor state isn't completely bloom with third wave coffee as most of the majority probably still have doubts on it. However, STAGE Cafe Malaysia is one of it that stood out as a third wave coffee stand, in a faraway precinct where third wave coffee can be classified as a rare gem to the community.
The owner of STAGE Cafe Malaysia wanted to take this opportunity to expand the world of third wave coffee around the area so that the community would know what third wave coffee would be like. So... it turns out pretty good in their favor :D

The moment you set foot in, your experience in STAGE Cafe Malaysia ultimately becomes more warmth and welcoming when the staff in the cafe greet you with a smile and would usher to your desired seats. To add to advantage, the cafe's interior beamed a homely sensation with its modernize design furnitures, patterned tiles and numbered of minimalist interior props at the side of the walls.
Then, there is a upper deck that supports the stage whereby barista able to extract their perfect shot of espresso in front of the 'audience' (customers).
"one day, i will stand on that stage"

STAGE Cafe Malaysia offered a few number of sweet treats that goes well with my coffee. Moreover, they are aesthetically pleasing to my appetite. Don't believe me? Scroll below.

Friendship
It doesn't seems right on this chiffon cake when the creator named it Friendship, however, the taste of this chiffon will blow your mind with its jasmine green tea essence serving along side with a mini bowl of coffee caramel syrup.

Blueberry Cheese Tart
Tarts of any kind are my all time favorite! Here in STAGE, they are serving it with fresh of blueberries on top of the cheese tart so that you can pick it up one by one while waiting for your friend to come! The filling is great, the berries are fresh, the crust is perfectly firm!

Cappuccino
To compliment with the pastries above, a cup of cappuccino with biscottis at the side, makes my day even more energize, adore and calm. This coffee falls in between light to medium bodied with hint of citrus and tea-like finishing.

Hand Brew Coffee - Aeropress
Also, give it a try on their hand brew coffee as they are using specialty graded coffee beans. The beans in-use are to decide by the baristas. So if you have any personal preference, I would advice you to talk to the barista beforehand, to avoid any disappointment later on.
Here, I got a glimpse of this splendid Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Gelana Abaya that is naturally processed. Despite its processing method, you could feel variety of fruits lay on your taste buds, leaving a rich bodied and ripe grape acidity within your mouth upon consume. For those who enjoy acidity, the acidity intensify when the temperature drops. Try it!

"STAGE, a platform that transforms passion into reality " - STAGE Cafe Malaysia
All in all, if you are looking for a cafe that serves good specialty coffee, pastries and brunch, this must be the one that you are looking for. Furthermore, their customer service is exceptional whereby you literally feel like home.
