The Tan Yiek

facebook instagram google twitter tumblr linkedin
After weeks of opening, the hype is still there. Australian gastronomic in-bounded to Malaysian homeland creates this long queue of patrons daily.
The Thieves transformed the hall (Paper Plates, 10 steps away from Pulp Cafe) into their own version of eatery space which structured with concretes and furnished wood, embraced with some glass panels.
Breakfast thieves serving up to 7 types of all-day meal, cakes, coffee, tea and juices. Simple lists which saves up time and avoid hassle on deciding on what to eat.

Gypsy King @ RM 29.00
Crisp garlic rosemary polenta bars with beetroot & citrus cured salmon trout, cauliflower & parmesan puree, roasted mushroom, charred onion and poached eggs.
Overall, I personally liked this dish because everything on the plate is cooked perfectly. I love the citrus salmon trout the most because it was fresh and the citrus component is balance that it matches with the salmon well. Wish to have more salmon trout!!!

My French Lady @ RM 26.00
French toast served with perfume strawberry & thyme, 55% salted dark chocolate soil, lemon curd, raspberry cream & mixed sesame shards.
Nothing to shout about on this plate. One thing for sure is that they give you different flavors to eat around on the plate. For example, toast with rasps cream, if you want to eat it sweet, otherwise toast with lemon curd which gives you acidity.

Cappuccino @ RM 11.00
Prefer something intense? Go for their cap.

Cafe Latte @ RM 11.00
Something light? Then, go for their cafe latte. Higher milk ratio to espresso.

Queue is massive. Some gave up. Some die waiting. Some just passing-by.
"When friendly stranger Peace out for you!"

The local sure knows about the special hideout within Centrio Pantai Hillpark apartment whenever they need caffeine or to rest their defeated soul for a short while before continuing tasks await them ahead.
M-TI Cup (/ˈem(p)tē/ /kəp/) studio managed by a husband & wife, inspired by the serene Taiwanese coffee house concept which provides warm and personalized hospitality by interacting with one another, as well as to provide and promote the best out of filter coffee by using specialty coffee beans. Just in case if you are hungry, there are a few limited selections of food available, depending on their dailies.
Oh and do bare in mind that they do not serve white coffee.

The entire space is actually a SOHO, which resulted in limited of seatings as the interior had been refit into a total picturesque with coffee brewing equipments, life plants, modernize furnitures and DIY bookshelf  - hence, cosy experience here is definite and you will never ditch this place so soon.
"At times, all you wanted is a cosy environment like this for a temporary mind-easing ..."

Should you choose to seat at the coffee bar, embrace the sense of passionate within as it will grow even more stronger when you are spectating how filter coffee its done step by step by a barista.
In case if you are new towards filter coffee, you may refer to the guide below or ask the barista for help. Mainly the barista will identify your preferred sensory before recommending which beans are suitable for you.
If you are still unsure or doubt about the recommendation, you can always refer to the handwritten menu book :)

-Panama Boquete Finca Kotowa Don K @ RM 17.00
A cup of coffee that possessed winey, juicy along with floral notes and a delicate acidity.

-El Salvador @ RM 17.00 (Left) , Pinarello blend @ RM 15.00 (right)
On the left, we have El Salvador that has bright fruity acidity with note of grapefruits and apples as well as combination hints of plum and nutty. It gives off the honey sweet and creamy body finishing.
As for the right, the Pinarello blend is complex as there are sweet and savory blend yields flavor of nutty, woody and dark chocolate.

- Tiramisu @ RM 16

To lift up the mood of a person, M-TI CUP offers glasses of perfect Tiramisu that is enchanted with Rum and Kahlua to pair well with the coffee. Excellent and sinful texture that will easily melt through your tongue.
/hmmm, why is their mascarpone cheese looks a bit green in color?/
The couple of the M-TI CUP studio is an innovative people because they tweaked the recipe of the Tiramisu that no other shop does. What they did was adding a small amount of matcha powder inside the mascarpone cheese in order to provide additional twist in taste and aroma, however, the recipe still remains experimental until proper feedbacks and measurement are satisfy enough to overcome all negativity.
"Pick me up, will ya'?"

If you are looking for a quiet yet secretive place for good coffee experience, then this must be the place for you. Also, don't forget to try their homemade Tiramisu that may pick you up ^_^

Otherwise, Centrio's best kept secret...

Typical day out on Independence Day, so I had decided to visit Bean Reserve located in the house of The Co. Bangsar. Bean Reserve founded by the Team who managed Brewmen at Solaris KL.
This cafe is just few metres away from Dr.Inc, so if Dr.Inc isn't your choice, maybe Bean Reserve is!

Well, Bean Reserve recently just started their business, so not many aware the presence of this place unless rumors are spread rapidly via medias or worth-of-mouth.
To find for the place is a little bit difficult if there's vehicle park in front of their signboard, which might obstruct your sight.
Somehow, you have to look for the identical buildings or whatever tips you can find and remember from my pictures.
This must be the place, The Co. , 8

Gentle Reminder...
It will be difficult for those who are driving as they need to find a good spot to park their vehicle, because, its a street parking :) Times are even harder if there are crowd that decided to visit Bean Reserve at the same time as yours.

Bello, at the entrance. The wall with cement finishing without any paint, makes everything goes natural and raw with the floor bricks.

They serve mainly coffee, tea, softsrve, freshly baked pastries and some light-duty food such as sandwiches.

And, I ordered:

Nitrogen Tea
Nitrogen Tea (RM13). First impression at first sip seriously ain't pleasant to my taste bud, I barely taste the tea flavor as it was overwhelmed by the other component such as: tonic water-like. As sipping continues, started to adapt to it.
Overall, I will not get this again on my next visit. Same goes to nitrogen coffee. My personal preference: Cold brewed or cold pressed taste better and pleasant compared to the nitrogen-infusion.
Extraction of Nitrogen Tea/Coffee.

 Softserve-Cereal-
Softserve with Cereal on top (RM8) Craving for ice cream, that's it.
Review here.

 Affagato with Softserve.
Affagato with softserve icecream! (RM15) . Serve along side with the mini jug of espresso!
Bam! There goes the espresso single-shot that poured into the best softsrve in town. One thing that I have noticed is that, the taste of the espresso-shot will be slightly out if the temperature goes to low. Giving high in acidity, even the ice cream barely help to neutralize em'. Those of you  who does not care about the acidity, take your own sweet time then.

The size of Bean Reserve, for now, is just nice as not many know about this place yet. Probably in the future, there might be a big crowd in the cafe.
I love the raw finishing at the wall of every part, reminded me of Caffeinated Cabin , seclude yourself in raw and small cabin while enjoying what you need to enjoy. Plenty of natural lighting to assist in everybody's photography. What more can you ask for?

Probably you might want to read a post that is related to this post? : LINK ME THERE!

My cafe hopping repertoire around Klang Valley has gotten dull, so I decided to expand my search to another boundary. Starting with The Daily Fix Cafe which located at the middle of Jonker Street, Malacca. The hall of the cafe seems rather quaint, because the owner decided to preserve the vintage & heritage element, in which something that tourists seek for when they are visiting Malacca.
You will not be able to detect the window shutter of " The Daily Fix" from the street outside because the whole cafe is inside a souvenir shop!

You will need to find for the souvenir shop called NEXT KK SDN. BHD from outside.
Also, you will notice The Daily Fix Cafe signboard that will lead you back into the past...

The Daily Fix Cafe serves cakes that I have never seen before such as Durian cake and Gula Melaka cake. Other products as usual, would be brunch and sandwiches.

The classic old-time objects be in aid to the interior design which gives out the feel of being in the 80's. Simple abstract-designed cushions surrounded by the old wooden window, lamp post as well as other wooden furnitures.

On the other corner, you will see more of the vintage and 80's furniture and objects around it, and the lamp post to act as the main source of light to embrace the love of any one who sits there.

If you walk further inside, is the cafe's back area. An open area, with only electrical fans around and embrace the floras as well as the natural light!

Colourful art-designed plates at the wall as a backdrop seems very interesting, a spot for all Instagramers!

Drink:
-Cappuccino @ RM 10. Daily Fix uses Nuts + Bolts supply by Pulp Coffee Roasters(Bangsar), no wonder it taste quite similar back home.

Cake:
-Durian Cake @ RM 12. A sponge cake that glazed with durian cream as well as topped with Gula Melaka and some shaved, dried coconut.

Behind the scene for upcoming post on Instagram.

I love this place, pretty nice place to chill in, staying away from the crowd. The durian cake was amazing especially the glazing was fantasy, smells like a real durian. I wish I could stay longer, but time is ticking...

Will Be Back in the Future!
