Mimi Nyugen's Cafe @ Taman Kinrara
I have been exploring many Vietnamese restaurants around Klang Valley, but the one restaurant that can create everlasting impression will be Mimi Nyugen's Cafe, located at Taman Kinrara Puchong. From afar, the restaurant itself stood above a Chinese restaurant, pretty odd structure they got there from the developer but nonetheless, this restaurant will be a great journey for those who seek for authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
Inside, you will be amazed by the artificial Japanese floral decorations within the dining space, beautiful mini ancient Chinese structured booths, bamboo netting and wooden table and chairs coupled with undercoated red brick walls.
Also realizing that most of the customers in Mimi Nyugen's are Vietnamese, hence, the food is as close as what you can get from Vietnam.
Start your day with Bahn Mi Thit Kho Trung (RM 12.50) is a baguette served with braised pork meat and hard boil egg as well as pickled vegetables. Overall of the baguette is good for me, firm, crust crispy and soft inside unlike the baguette you find elsewhere rocky stone cold. The pork meat is very thick and tender as well - value for money.
When in Vietnamese restaurant, a bowl of Pho is a must. This bowl of beef noodle costs RM 12.50, quite big portion for price like that, few a number of meatballs and beef slice. The broth was incredible, very rich in flavors and it does not have heavy tangy smell from the protein.
Also, try to get a taste of this bowl of Hu Tieu Bo Kho (RM 12.50), which basically means beef stew rice noodle. Great for those who like to experience even more heavier palate from the beef stew. Delicious, rich and thick. No regrets.
As for dessert, this - Banh Chuoi (RM 7.50) is something new for me. It is a Vietnamese's sweet banana cake which usually served as a dessert. Ingredient may varies across province and individuals. In this case, this sweet banana cake is quite delicious as well. Firm inside out, with thin slices of banana in between the layers, covered with sweetened coconut milk cream and peanuts on top.
Not to forget that having Vietnamese coffee is essential whenever you are in the Vietnamese restaurant. This Ca Phe Sua (Cold) RM 6.50, highly bold, robust unlike any other coffee that you can find elsewhere. Make sure to have your stomach filled first before drinking the coffee.
My personal verdict: Truly authentic Vietnamese meal at a very affordable price, good dining environment which make you feel at home. Variety of food menu item.
